The City of Mbombela has issued an open tender (COM84/2026) for the appointment of a panel of service providers for the maintenance of heavy commercial vehicles and roadside assistance. This strategic 36-month contract targets capable automotive workshops to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the municipality’s critical fleet.
Scope of Works and Fleet Maintenance
The appointed panel will render comprehensive maintenance and roadside assistance services for all heavy commercial vehicles (HDVs) and vehicles exceeding three tons. Reliable fleet maintenance is essential for sustaining essential municipal service delivery across the Mpumalanga region.
Mandatory Industry Registration and Functionality
Bids are strictly invited from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) franchises or capable service providers registered with the Retail Motor Industry (RMI). A key functionality criterion requires bidders to possess a fully equipped workshop physically located within the City of Mbombela, verified by proof of ownership or a valid lease agreement.
Evaluation and Preferential Procurement
Proposals will be evaluated using an 80/20 preferential procurement system. Eighty points are allocated for price, while 20 points reward targeted goals such as local enterprise development and B-BBEE compliance, ensuring inclusive economic participation.
