The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) invites bids (SANBI:G577/2026) from PSIRA-registered security companies to provide guarding services at the KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden. This three-year contract is critical for safeguarding the garden’s biodiversity, infrastructure, and visitors against threats like poaching and trespassing.
Scope of Work and Security Risks
The appointed service provider will render 24/7 security guarding services. Key responsibilities include:
- Access and exit control for vehicles and pedestrians.
- Perimeter and building patrols to prevent unauthorized entry.
- Enforcement of garden rules and municipal by-laws.
- Emergency response and asset protection, including flora and fauna.
Mandatory Submission Requirements (Disqualifiable)
Failure to submit any of the following will lead to disqualification:
- CSD registration report
- Valid company PSIRA registration certificate
- Valid company owner(s)/management team’s PSIRA registration certificate(s)
- Certified copy of valid ICASA licence or PTT communication contract (for the service area)
- Proof of business address in KwaZulu-Natal (e.g., municipal account, lease)
- Fee/cost structure (Annexure D)
- Valid COIDA Letter of Good Standing
- Company health and safety policy & training plan
- Liability Insurance Cover (minimum R5 million per claim)
- Duly completed and signed SBD forms
- Fully completed compulsory site briefing session certificate
Compulsory Briefing Session
Attendance at the mandatory site briefing is strictly required. Bidders must adhere to all health and safety protocols. The session will start strictly at 10:00.
