The South African Weather Service has issued Request for Quotation RFQ-3560/24 for essential infrastructure improvements at its Irene Weather Office in Pretoria. This procurement opportunity targets qualified contractors capable of delivering specialised fencing, shelter construction, and environmental safety works.
Tender Scope and Key Deliverables
The project encompasses four core components:
- Supply, delivery, and installation of Clearview security fencing
- Construction of a dedicated shelter for diesel generators
- Relocation of an existing storage tank to an approved position
- Building of a spillage catchment area to meet environmental compliance standards
Submission Requirements and Deadline
Bidders must ensure strict compliance to avoid disqualification. The following documents must be submitted:
- Completed and signed forms: Annexure A (Invitation), Annexure G (Pricing Schedule), Annexure C (Bidder’s Disclosure), and Annexure F (Preference Points Claim Form).
- Tax Compliance: SARS Tax Compliance Status (TCS) PIN or a printed TCS certificate. For consortia or JVs, each party must submit separate documentation.
- CSD Registration: Proof of registration on the National Treasury’s Central Supplier Database (CSD), including the registration number.
- B-BBEE Status: A valid, original B-BBEE certificate or a certified copy of a Sworn Affidavit to claim preference points.
- CIDB Registration: Bidders must be registered with the CIDB with a grading of 1GB or higher. The registration number must be provided.
Compulsory Briefing Session Details
A compulsory briefing session will be held to allow bidders to familiarize themselves with the site and the scope of work.

- Requirement: Attendance is mandatory. Bidders must sign the attendance register.
Failure to attend will render the bid non-responsive.
Evaluation and Compliance Criteria
Quotations will be assessed based on price, technical capability, B-BBEE status, and adherence to the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act. Only responsive, fully compliant submissions will proceed to award consideration.
