Transnet, in strategic partnership with 22 On Sloane, invites eligible South African SMMEs to apply for the Transnet Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) Incubation Programme. This high-impact initiative is designed to accelerate the growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of Black, Women, and Youth-owned enterprises across priority economic sectors. Successful applicants will participate in a structured 6–12-month incubation programme tailored to specific development scopes and geographic regions.
Development Scopes and Targeted Sectors
The programme offers specialised development tracks aligned with Transnet’s operational needs:
- Plumbing (6 months): Gauteng
- Cleaning (6 months): KwaZulu-Natal
- Spill Cleaning & Environmental Services (12 months): KwaZulu-Natal
- Maritime Development (12 months): KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Western Cape
- Construction (6 months): Gauteng
- Export Development (12 months): Eastern Cape, Western Cape, KZN, North West, Mpumalanga
- Supplier Quality Management (12 months): Gauteng
Eligibility Criteria and Application Requirements
Enterprises must meet one of two eligibility pathways based on operational maturity:
Category A (12-month operating requirement):
- Valid B-BBEE Certificate / Affidavit
- Active CIPC Registration
- Valid SARS Tax Compliance Status
- Qualifying EMEs and QSEs with at least 51% black ownership
- Defined product or service offering
- Minimum 12 months of operation
- Operate within targeted geographic areas
Category B (24-month operating requirement):
- All above criteria plus active Transnet Vendor Number
- Two consecutive financial year statements
- Minimum 24 months of operation
The 12-month threshold ensures enterprises have progressed beyond start-up phase, while the 24-month requirement confirms established operational track records suitable for Transnet’s supply chain integration.

Selected SMMEs receive comprehensive support including:
- Technical training and business development support
- Funding readiness assistance and market readiness preparation
- Procurement showcases and B2B networking sessions
- Structured mentorship and capacity-building interventions

Application Process and Key Dates
Applications open 12 March 2026 and close 20 March 2026. Applicants must complete all sections of the online application and upload required documents including CIPC registration, proof of ownership, B-BBEE affidavit, tax clearance, company profile, business plan, and latest financial statements.
