Smallholder farmers in Limpopo Province are invited to participate in a high-impact agricultural technology engagement hosted by 22 On Sloane in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and supported by the Government of Japan.
Taking place on 13 March 2026 at Masutha Farming, Mamaila Village, Mopani District, this AgriTech Showcase is designed to introduce locally relevant innovations that improve productivity, reduce operational costs, and strengthen sustainable farming practices.
Driving Rural Innovation Through AgriTech
Agriculture remains a cornerstone of economic activity in Limpopo, particularly in rural districts such as Mopani District. However, smallholder farmers continue to face challenges including climate variability, rising input costs, water scarcity, and limited access to scalable technology.
The AgriTech Showcase aims to bridge the innovation gap by connecting farmers directly with innovators, solution providers, and ecosystem stakeholders. The event forms part of broader efforts to modernise rural agriculture while ensuring technologies are practical, affordable, and locally adaptable.
Practical Solutions for Smallholder Farmers
This is not a theoretical seminar. The showcase focuses on applied, field-ready technologies that address real challenges faced by farmers on the ground.
Participants will engage with innovations across:
- Crop production technologies
- Livestock management systems
- Aquaculture solutions
- Hydroponics systems
- Tunnel farming applications
The emphasis is on tools and systems that enhance yield, improve resource efficiency, and strengthen climate resilience without imposing unsustainable financial burdens on farmers.
What to Expect at the Mopani Showcase
The event will be hosted at Masutha Farming in Mamaila Village, offering a practical agricultural setting for demonstrations and engagement.
Farmers can expect:
- Live technology demonstrations
- Interactive discussions with innovators
- Peer knowledge-sharing sessions
- Opportunities to provide feedback on agricultural innovation needs
- Networking with development partners and agricultural stakeholders
The engagement format ensures that farmers are not passive attendees but active contributors in shaping the future of agri-innovation in the district.
Key Technology Areas: Crop, Livestock, Aquaculture & Hydroponics
Farmers will engage with practical innovations across five priority domains:
