IDFC Masakhe Workshop 2026: Unlock Funding for Your Business

The Ithala Development Finance Corporation (IDFC), in partnership with the Alfred Duma Local Municipality and the KwaZulu-Natal Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), is hosting the Masakhe Business Workshop—a high-impact, free-of-charge event designed to empower local entrepreneurs and small business owners across the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal regions. Titled “Empowering Local Entrepreneurs”, this initiative reflects IDFC’s commitment to inclusive economic growth, job creation, and sustainable enterprise development in underserved communities.

Overview of the Masakhe Business Workshop by IDFC

Scheduled for Thursday, 5 March 2026, the workshop will take place at the Uitvaal Community Hall in Umtata (Mthatha), Eastern Cape. The event is part of IDFC’s broader “Let’s Build” campaign, aimed at strengthening the micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) ecosystem through accessible knowledge transfer, direct engagement, and practical business enablement tools.

IDFC, as an authorised financial services and credit provider (FSP Licence No. 17125, NCRCP No. 610), leverages its institutional expertise to bridge the gap between aspiring entrepreneurs and formal financing, regulatory compliance, and market readiness.

Key Objectives and Expected Outcomes

The workshop is structured to deliver tangible value through three core pillars:

  • Financial Literacy & Access to Capital: Participants will learn about IDFC’s loan products, grant-linked funding, and non-financial support mechanisms—including mentorship, feasibility studies, and procurement linkage.
  • Non-Financial Support & Compliance: Guidance on SARS tax registration, CSD onboarding, SABS standards, and municipal compliance requirements will be provided by IDFC’s Business Finance Team.
  • Practical Business Readiness: Attendees will receive on-site assistance to refine their business plans or purchase orders—critical steps for securing funding or government contracts.

By the end of the day, participants will leave with actionable insights, a completed business plan draft (where applicable), and direct access to IDFC’s support desks for follow-up.
