The Council for Geoscience (CGS) has issued an open tender (CGS-2026-039F) for the appointment of a panel of contractors to undertake the implementation and construction of ingress control measures. This strategic three-year contract, operating on an “as and when” required basis, is designed to support the CGS mandate of producing world-class geoscience knowledge products while addressing critical infrastructure challenges in South Africa’s mining regions.

Scope of Works

The successful contractors will be responsible for providing specialized construction services aimed at preventing water ingress into old underground mine voids. Key deliverables include:

  • Execution of ingress control construction projects primarily within the Eastern, Central, and Western Basins of the Witwatersrand Goldfields.
  • Adherence to specific scopes of work and Bills of Quantities that will be issued with each individual Request for Quotation (RFQ) or tender as services are required.
  • Compliance with all safety, environmental, and technical standards mandated by the Council for Geoscience and relevant mining regulations.

Non-Compulsory Briefing Session

While attendance is not mandatory, a virtual briefing session is highly recommended for prospective bidders to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project requirements and evaluation methodology. The session is scheduled for Thursday, 05 November 2026, at 11:00.
