Scope of Work
The successful bidder will be required to supply, deliver, and offload the following live chickens at the ARC Irene Campus:
- 320 Boschveld 16-week-old hens
- 40 Boschveld 16-week-old roosters
Key Requirements
Bidders must comply with strict animal health and welfare standards. The appointed supplier must ensure that all chickens are:
- Free from HPAI, Newcastle, Salmonella, and other notifiable diseases
- Vaccinated with documented disease-monitoring programmes
- Tagged for identification purposes
- Dipped one week prior to delivery (certificates required)
- Transported under conditions that avoid adverse weather (<5°C or >30°C, rain)
A detailed veterinary health certificate and movement permit must be provided on or before delivery.
Mandatory Documents for Submission
Failure to submit any of the following will result in automatic disqualification:
- At least one contactable reference letter confirming successful livestock supply in South Africa (not older than 6 years)
- Detailed minimum 4-week quarantine plan (including shelter, feed/fodder, and healthcare provisions)
- Comprehensive transportation plan with images of vehicles to be used
- Completed and signed Appendix B (Veterinary Health Certificate for Poultry)
Evaluation and Compliance
This procurement follows the 80/20 preference point system, where 80 points are awarded for the lowest acceptable price and 20 points for specific goals. Points are allocated for ownership by HDIs, women, youth, and persons with disabilities, as well as B-BBEE status levels. Bidders must be registered on the Central Supplier Database (CSD) and submit a valid Tax PIN and BBBEE certificate.
