22 On Sloane, in partnership with the UK-South Africa Tech Hub and the Wholesale and Retail SETA (W&RSETA), has officially launched Version 3 of the Township Digital Market Access Programme. This initiative aims to onboard 80 township-based businesses in the Western Cape onto leading e-commerce platforms, building on the success of empowering over 350 MSMEs in previous cohorts.

Strategic Focus and Core Pillars

Version 3 shifts from basic access to comprehensive preparedness. The programme is built on two core pillars:

  • Business Readiness Level (BRL)
  • Technical Capability Level (TCL) These pillars ensure enterprises are operationally prepared to meet digital demand and sustain long-term growth.

Target Regions and Eligible Sectors

The initiative specifically targets product-based businesses operating in Khayelitsha, Gugulethu, Mitchell’s Plain, Nyanga, Langa, Harare, Mfuleni, Imizamoyethu, and Delft. Eligible sectors include:

  • Clothing & Textile, Food & Beverages, and Bakery & Confectionery
  • Furniture, Auto Parts, and Electronics & Appliances
  • Personal Care and Agro-processing

Mandatory Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicant businesses must meet the following requirements:

  • Have been in active operation for at least one year with proven sales.
  • Produce tangible consumer products suitable for e-commerce.
  • Possess essential documentation, including certified IDs, proof of address, and recent bank statements.
