Limpopo Health Orthotic and Prosthetic Consumables Tender

The Limpopo Department of Health has issued an open tender (HEDP003/25/26) for the supply and delivery of medical orthotic and prosthetic consumables. This strategic 36-month contract aims to support patient rehabilitation and the fabrication of assistive devices across provincial health facilities.

Scope of Supply and Product Categories

The appointed service provider will supply a comprehensive range of consumables used in orthotic and prosthetic centres. Key categories include:

  • Off-the-shelf items and chemical lamination materials
  • Orthopaedic footwear and compression stockings
  • Paediatric and adult prosthetics (upper and lower limb)
  • Spinal orthotics and breast prostheses

Mandatory Requirements

Bidders must submit the following mandatory documents, failure which will result in disqualification:

  • A copy of a valid South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) license as a manufacturer, distributor, or wholesaler for all items, excluding Categories B and I
  • A copy of the registration certificate with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for the in-house Medical Orthotist and Prosthetist
  • A copy of a valid ISO 13485 or SANS/ISO 13485 certificate or equivalent manufacturer certificate
  • Proof of financial capacity (minimum R200,000) through a bank undertaking, NCR/FSP undertaking, current bank statements, or accessible investment account
  • Letter of commitment to provide all commodities within 15-21 days for locally manufactured items and 45 days for imported items
  • Proof of ownership of a minimum of two closed delivery vehicles (minimum 1-ton panel vans)
  • Minimum 100% local content for Leather and Footwear sectors
  • Completed declarations for GCC and SCC

Evaluation and Preference Points

Proposals will be evaluated using the 80/20 preferential procurement system. The 20 specific goal points heavily reward local economic development, allocating the full 20 points to enterprises located within the Limpopo Province, alongside additional points for SMMEs, youth, women, and persons with disabilities.
