Iziko Museums of South Africa invites qualified service providers to submit quotations for the professional handling, transportation, and storage of museum collections from the Nelson Mandela Prison House Museum in Paarl. This six-month contract requires expertise in heritage logistics, secure packing, and climate-conscious storage solutions.
Scope of Services Required
- Removal of museum household furniture and artefacts from current storage at Pack-Art CC, Milnerton
- Professional transportation with specialised handling for heritage items
- Secure, insured storage for six months (extendable based on restoration timelines)
- Protective packing, return transportation, and reinstatement at the original museum location
- Comprehensive insurance cover valued at R100,000 for content protection
Submission Requirements
Bidders must submit a complete quotation package including:
- Central Supplier Database (CSD) report with valid tax status
- Detailed pricing structure on company letterhead (VAT inclusive)
- Valid B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit for EME/QSE entities
- Signed RFQ document and completed SBD forms (SBD 4 and SBD 6.1)
- Proposed project timeline and company profile demonstrating heritage handling experience
Evaluation and Preference Points
Proposals will be assessed using the 80/20 preference point system: 80 points for price competitiveness and 20 points for specific goals, including B-BBEE status level contribution. Failure to submit supporting documentation for preference claims will result in zero points for that category.
