The Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), in partnership with the South African Innovation Summit (SAIS), is proud to host the inaugural SA Innovation Week (SAIW) 2026—a high-impact, working-format gathering designed for those actively building South Africa’s innovation future. Unlike traditional conferences, SAIW 2026 is structured as a focused, collaborative sprint: a week-long series of expert talks, targeted workshops, one-on-one matchmaking, and live deal sessions—all aimed at accelerating real-world impact.

Overview: SA Innovation Week 2026 – A Working Summit, Not a Conference

Held from 16–20 March 2026 at NASREC, Johannesburg, SA Innovation Week redefines engagement by prioritising action over attendance. With a capped cohort of 500+ participants, the event is intentionally curated to ensure balanced representation across key ecosystem roles: founders, early-stage investors, corporate innovators, government enablers, incubators, and research institutions. The goal? To foster deep connections that translate into partnerships, funding, and scalable solutions—within days, not months.

Who Should Attend: Founders, Investors, Operators & Policy Shapers

This is not an open-door event—it is an invitation to contribute. Ideal participants include:

  • Founders & Startups with MVPs or revenue traction
  • Angel investors, VCs, and corporate venture teams actively deploying capital
  • Operators & scale-up leaders from tech, healthtech, agritech, cleantech, and deep-tech sectors
  • Policy makers and public-sector innovators shaping enabling environments
  • Ecosystem enablers: incubators, accelerators, universities, and technical service providers

Attendance is free, but admission is selective—applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the cohort is full.

Format & Design: High-Impact, Curated, Ecosystem-Balanced Participation

SAIW 2026 features a modular, outcome-driven structure:

  • Expert Talks: Short, actionable keynotes from global and local innovators
  • Masterclasses: Deep-dive sessions on fundraising, IP strategy, regulatory pathways, and market entry
  • Unconference Tracks: Participant-led discussions on emerging themes (e.g., AI governance, green tech scaling)
  • Deal Rooms: Structured 1:1 meetings between startups and investors, corporates, and procurement officers
  • Collaboration Labs: Co-creation sprints on national challenges (e.g., energy access, inclusive fintech)

The format ensures no “audience fatigue”—every session is designed for contribution, not passive listening.

Key Offerings: Market Access, Deal-Making & Expert Engagement

Participants will gain:

  • Direct access to national and international investors via pre-scheduled pitch slots
  • Market linkage opportunities with state-owned enterprises, municipalities, and private sector buyers
  • Regulatory navigation support from DTIC, SARS, and sector-specific agencies
  • IP and commercialisation guidance through TIA’s Technology Transfer Office
  • On-site legal, financial, and mentorship clinics from partner institutions

Past TIA-supported ventures—including those in medtech, agritech, and clean energy—will showcase real-world scaling journeys, providing tangible roadmaps for attendees.

Registration Process: Rolling Cohort Model with Limited Seats

Registration is open now via the official portal:
Register for SA Innovation Week 2026

Applications are reviewed continuously; the cohort closes once the 500-seat capacity is reached. Early registrants receive priority scheduling for 1:1 sessions and workshop placements.

No late registrations will be accepted—this is a deliberate design choice to preserve the event’s intensity and value.
